Caligiuri Announces Tuesday

A Message from Sam Caligiuri

Dear Friends,

As my closest friends and supporters, I want you to be the first invited to what I believe will be an exciting event. You may have heard rumors or read news reports of my potential plans for the future. Well, I am close to a decision and want you to be a part of this journey from the start.

This Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10 a.m., I invite you to my home, 25 Hartley Drive, Waterbury, Conn. for an announcement regarding my future and the 2010 United States Senate race in Connecticut.

Your support has always been generous and unyielding. I am grateful for all that you have done for me in the past and encourage you to join me on Tuesday for this announcement. Your attendance would mean a great deal to my family and me.

A flyer, directions and parking instructions are attached. While this is an informal event, please reply to Peter Bowman at peter (at) samforussenate.com if you are able to attend or if you have any questions about the announcement.

Again, I send my sincere thanks to all of you for your previous support. I look forward to seeing you this Tuesday and sharing with you my plans for the future.

Truly,
Sam

  1. This is a big mistake. The powers that be will line up behind Simmons, and Sam showed last night on Hannity that he can't deliver the red meat this Senate race would require. He's a top-notch man, though--hope he stays where he is and waits for a better opening.

  2. Is that the renowned Joe Markley? I thought we'd see your old pal Tom Scott at some of these Tea Parties. Where have YOU been??

Yes - the real one, not some cheap fake that you might see occasionally frequenting some of those other sleezy blogs; Joe stops by this sleezy blog - and we thank him!

  4. I remember Joe from Tom Scott's campaign for governor. Tom got 11% of the vote, very respectable for a 3rd party candidate. Joe had a lot to do with that result, he's a smart guy.

    And he's a very good-natured fellow!

  5. Caligiuri looked and sounded good this morning on Shelly Sindland's show. One point he made stands out - Simmons is part of the old guard that was swept out in 06, it's time for new leadership. The Cantor wing of the party is up and coming and Caligiuri is a good fit.

Simmons is a high caliber individual, I understand he did black bag ops for the CIA in the early days of Vietnam and speaks fluent Mandarin, I have a lot of respect for him. But he is from the old moderate wing that failed, their day is over.

  6. Charles--As ACR said, it is me indeed (tanned, rested and ready--probably seventy-five pounds lighter than when last we met) and I am getting back into it, as you'll see. Tom Scott is selling real estate in Milford and laying low, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him reappear as things heat up.

I'm sorry I sounded so negative about Sam--if it were up to me to pick the senator, he'd probably be my choice. My priority, though, is getting rid of Dodd, and to that end I'd back anyone not actually a demon from hell or a killer space alien (non-violent space aliens I'd consider based on their positions and their diet).

I'd like to see the Republican candidates refrain absolutely from attacks on one another--refrain even from comparisons that might alienate some voters. Let Sam, Simmons, etc. say what they are for, and why Dodd must go, without so much as mentioning their GOP opponents.

  7. I didn't think you were negative, Joe, just practical as always. :)

Glad to know you are the picture of health!

I look forward to seeing you around. All the best.
